SuDoku Therapy

Thank heavens for SuDoku. I have escaped into a puzzle or 3 or 4 lately and its been extremely soothing. To be able to solve these "griddy" puzzles makes me feel slightly better even if I can't solve other problems. It takes enough of my concentration to help me break the cycle of unproductive thoughts that swarm in my mind concerning #3.

I received The ULTIMATE BOOK OF SU DOKU 1 by Pete Sinden for Christmas from DF. It has them ranked as Painless, Tricky, Nasty and Migraine. I have worked my grey matter enough on them lately that I can do the Nasty ones almost as easily as the Tricky ones and those as easily as the Painless ones. I have to admit that I haven't tried the Migraine ones yet.... But I did finish the Sudoku in last Sunday's Star Tribune for the first time and it didn't take me very long...maybe 20 minutes. That was personal triumph!

I also just finished a book lent to me by a co-worker. Its called Green Rider and it was a debut novel for Kristin Britain published in 1998. I don't normally read fantasy novels but Co-worker insisted I would like it because the protagonist (in her words) "Kicks ass!" And she was right. I was reluctant but read on for the first few short chapters and soon was caught up in the adventure with this teenage girl who is called upon to deliver an urgent message to the king by a wounded Green Rider. The Green Riders are the King's messenger service but they are more than couriers. It is set in a world of Celtic/Gaelic overtones filled with magic and intrigue. The author has a 2nd book in the series which was published in 2003 entitled First Rider's Call which I will begin reading tonight.

Movies I've seen lately and liked...Surprisingly, King Kong! I was not really excited to go see it but it was really good and I was glad I went. I also really enjoyed The Family Stone. Diane Keaton just keeps getting better and better. I laughed...I cried...sometimes both at the same time. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was fun. Loved Mr. Tomnus immensely...especially when he stomped his little hooves to get the snow off...totally great effects. Some things from the original story were sort of skimmed over (the Turkish Delight's spell for one) but mostly is was a very entertaining movie.

What movie to see this weekend...Perhaps Rumor Has It....I want to see memoirs of a Geisha but it got some bad reviews and I really just need to seek out comedy in my life right now...there's already way too much drama around here for my liking. Then again, Glory Road comes out this weekend and I wouldn't mind seeing that....I guess I can wait until it comes out on DVD though...

Movies coming out soon (ok...soon or this year) that I plan to see....
Nanny McPhee with Emma Thompson and Colin Firth :-) in 2 weeks
Firewall with Harrison Ford
BloodRayne
Underworld
Ice Age 2
The DaVinci Code ....wondering how they are going to make Tom Hanks out to be the hot Mr. Langdon.
X3 (cuz Wolverine is HOT!!!)
Superman Returns - cuz I'm curious...
Pirates of the Caribbean 2 - cuz you-know-who is WAY HOT! Initials are JD....
Miami Vice... cuz Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx are BOTH HOT!
