Extra! Extra! Need More Yarn

I finished the Baby Surprise Jacket (BSJ) for Riley in time for Angela and Todd's Baby Shower this weekend. Yay! Now, if only I had remembered to take a picture of it after I finished sewing on the little Peter Rabbit buttons......there would be a picture to post here. :-( I do have some in-progress pictures that I haven't uploaded from the camera yet, so I'll post those at a later time.

I'm also finished with the main part of the Extra! Extra! hat from the KnitScene mag - Fall 2006. I started working on the brim last night and catching up with missed shows from last week (House, Fringe) and then on to True Blood when I ran out of Touch Me. Dammit. Another $16 dollars to finish the thing....I started with 3 balls of Touch Me and 2 balls of cabled merino in a sport-weight. Lets see now... the cost of goods for this hat has just climbed to $82 - LOL...for a Hat. I guess I'm going to have to give it to her with the caveat that if she doesn't like it than she can just give it back and I'll wear it. :-)

I hope she likes it though. :-)

I spent part of my housecleaning time yesterday rewinding balls of yarn in my yarn basket as it was a mess! It was overflowing with half-used center pull skeins of Sugar N Cream cotton from the Great Absorba bathmat, some yarn from the sweater I made last summer (rust/black...maybe you recall it), the leftover bit from BSJ, leftovers from Ruffle Top Socks, Euroflax from the bags....and at the very bottom was the Noro silk-wool blend (several balls) that were the result of having frogged the shawl that one of the cats decided to chew a hole in...it must've tasted nummy or something. Now its full to the brim with neatly wound balls of leftovers. I suppose I should find some projects for it....or file it away in the correct stash drawers (by fiber content and weight). Yes, I'm somewhat "fastidious" that way.

After the ball winding fest and more dusting and vacuuming, it was off to see Bill Maher's film, Religulous. We enjoyed it tons! We especially liked the priest Bill spoke to outside of the Vatican. Although the part where the dude's hair almost caught fire when they were sitting around talking about the spirituality of cannabis stands out as pretty funny also. Actually, as I think about it - it was all pretty funny! Until you realize just how dangerous it is and how destructive it is and how many deaths can be attributed to it.

Ok...so I don't want to leave you on a downer there so back to knitting and stuff.

Upcoming Projects include:
  • I also found 3 skeins of yarn in my basket to make another pair of felted clogs...these were supposed to be made for one of my sons last year for Christmas. So a year late is ok,...its not like he was expecting them or anything. ;-)
  • Seems to me I also bought a ton of the Mooncake yarn at the Yarn Cafe's going out of business sale to make a few more pairs for some non-knitting friends.
  • I also have yarn on order from Pam at Knitter's Palette for the Butterfly from Knitscene (don't remember the issue...Spring 2007?) - I got off the fence and ordered tangerine!
  • I have enough sock yarn to make at least 13 or 14 pairs of socks....
  • Not to mention the catnip mice that I'm working on - 4 knitted so far and I want to do at least a dozen before I felt them.
  • I have Aran weight yarn for a vest
  • I need to rip a 3 button Henley tee that is like a 4x or 5x - that happened by accident. I think I was shooting for XL. The thing is it fits at the bottom dammit...but the sleeves and armholes are WAY too big. The other bummer is it was a top down design. :-S So I have to frog the whole thing.
I'm enjoying Honey Crisp season! I manage to eat one or 2 each day. I hope wherever you are, you have these wonderful apples available to you. They were developed here at the University of Minnesota. They're currently working on a blueberry that's the size of cherry and tastes like a wild blueberry! Those clever horticulturists!

Sorry there are no pictures with this post....I can't seem to coordinate pictures and text for whatever reason. Location Location Location. But stay tuned...there will be pictures...hopefully by the end of the week.

pre-felting mice, huh? I only have two (mice), but they seem to be felting quite well courtesy of the cats licking them to death.

I should make some more of them...

NO kidding? You need 1 more ball of touch me to finish the hat?
Well.... at least you bought the yarn from LYS, so hopefully they'll still have same dye lot.

hm.. 4 months huh... need to get back to blogging. LOL
