Future Sweater and More Spinning Wheel Pix

Here's the latest fiber in my stash.

I bought some fiber at Detta's last weekend ... I think I will need about 2-3 lbs to make an XL sweater..... This Merino Top Multi in English Garden should be enough! Its only a couple of ounces shy of 3 lbs.

I'm going to keep practicing with other fiber until I'm sure of myself and I can spin a consistent single.

Here's some pictures of the Matchless flyer... note the double drive - I love the take up!

Off to Spin and watch Dr. Who....

Schacht Matchless

Rina and I went to Detta's Spindle last Saturday. This followed me home. Actually I buckled it into the seatbelt in the back seat of my car where it rode home in complete safety. Which means I can take it places and it will behave. I haven't tried out the strap yet. And I'm considering the cart for it. Its only 17 lbs - less than half the weight of a bag of dog food.

I was really thinking I would buy a niddy noddy and try out some wheels and think about it for a bit. But although I have tried over the years to know buy something on the spot (most notably, cars) it never works out that way.

She put it together for me and it was really great to be able to observe and learn from her.

She is really an awesome lady!

Rina had an idea that she wanted to spin some cat hair and mix it with some wool she purchased at the Shepherd's Harvest. Detta suggested she bring it along when she came out. So we also had a little lesson in carding cat and dog fur, blending it with wool, and spinning it!

So now I have my Matchless DT and some roving and a whole weekend ahead of me! :-)
